This is an interesting case of a dispute between a firm and a former employee over a twitter account. A very useful example of one of the things firms and workers alike need to avoid: joint Social Media accounts. My grandmother used to say “good clear contracts make good friends”.
The reason firms get in a mess like this, dragging their coworkers with them, is that they are ignorant of the possibilities and risks of Social Media and let it happen to them in arbitrary unclear ways rather than actively shaping their own presence. By the time they realize that Social Media presence can be an asset they already have a mess to disentangle. That’s why this project is going to be a very useful one.
