gloom and doom

On Aug 18 at 19:27 I took a snapshot of the European airspace. Below you see a segment of this snapshot which includes Greece. Notice anything in particular?


Well I notice two things: First in central Europe there is a huge concentration of flying planes. Second all of southern Europe has a  significant amount of planes as well (mostly tourist activity I suppose). One sad exception stands out though: Greece has two place flying in its airspace! This is not a statistically significant picture but it is significant in that considering the assets the country has that traffic should have been much much higher…
